How to Entertain Your Family at Home on a Budget

Board Games
Back when I was a kid we used to play board games all the time. In recent years there has been a resurgence in board games, with families around the world rediscovering the joys of playing together in the same room (instead of each being isolated on their computers!).
It is never a good idea to eat food while playing board games, so a good tip is to eat first. Alternatively, have some light snacks on hand during play.
Below are some essential board games that every family should own:
Scrabble
The game is simple - make words from the letters you are given and score the most points. Can be very challenging and fun at the same time, and really gets your brain working.
Cluedo (Clue)
Since 1949 families worldwide have been trying to work out if it was Colonel Mustard with the Lead Pipe in the Study who murdered Dr Black! Or was it Miss Scarlett? This fantastic game of deduction is an absolute classic and must have for any family. Perfect for larger families as up to 6 players can play.
Cranium
An ingenious game that is both fun and versatile. Challenges for players range from miming, word puzzles and drawing objects all the way to making clay sculptures! I still play this game with my family every time I return home.
Card Games
Card Games can often require a little bit of patience to learn if you aren't familiar with them, however they can be just as rewarding as board games if you are playing with your family. Some very popular games include Bridge, Kalooki & Poker. If you need some simpler games for the kids, then you can try Spite, Malice or Cheat.
You can even go to your local library as they should have some books on card games. These books can teach you literally hundreds of card games, meaning that you will always have many options depending on what you and your family want to play.
